Baan Puangmalai Lady Guesthouse 

This is a wonderful little guesthouse for women. The ladies there are sweet and helpful. Please note, if you are looking for nightlife or entertainment, this is probably not the place for you. They don't allow smoking, drinking or drugs. There's no TV, bar, cafe or common room to hang out in. What it does have is nicely furnished little rooms, including some singles and dorm beds. It's a haven of peace and safety. You might get awakened by the rooster next door, but this is probably as quiet a place as you will find in town. The walls are thin, though, so it could be a little noisy from other guests. It's on a quiet lane in the old city, not far from restaurants, etc. There is a raw organic cafe 50 meters away, and another good vegetarian restaurant just up and around the corner and a little coffee shop next door. The laundromat at the end of the street has good machines, including one for 20 Baht. This is not a modern, soulless, concrete block of a hotel. The furnishings are traditional and quite attractive. My room had a beautifully carved table and chair, and a bamboo bed. The floors are wooden rather than linoleum or something. The bed is decidedly on the hard side, however. For me, that's OK, but some people it might not be. The rooms are small. There is free wifi throughout the building. The a/c is extremely quiet and efficient. Bathrooms are shared. The shower has good hot water. They also offer massages here.
