Holy Feather Hotel

- Great location: 
Near Southeast corner of the old town of Chiang Mai. 
Not too close, not too far away from the center of the city. 
The best part is that it is a few minutes walk away from the famous and delicious Chiang Mai local diner called Aroon Rai.
- Friendly staff: 
Greet and welcome the guests with warm hospitality. 
Staff listen to us in free and open-minded communications.
They find the comfortable distance with the guests, family or friends to some guests, an advisor or observers to others. 
- Flexible services: 
This hotel may not offer all the services guests might want, but they are open to help the guests by any means possible. 
They offered me a ride to a restaurant for dinner once.
They have direct contact information posted at the reception. 
Mobile number, Facebook, Wechat, LINE contacts in case of any emergency or requests from the guests.

Great location, Friendly staff, flexible services 

We had multiple reservations for rooms here at this hotel. When we arrived they informed us that NONE of the rooms were available as reserved and that they had no other rooms available. However, they told us that they had another "house" that they would put us up in for the same price but were extremely vague about the place and it's location. We spent 2 hours trying to get them to honor our reservations and they then informed us that reservations made by third parties such as Agoda, Expedia, etc are not authorized to make reservations on their behalf and are not allowed. Again they tried pushing us towards the other location they owned with no additional information only that someone would be there shortly to pick us up. We made the hotel reservations based on the location that was the most convenient to where we needed to be. After waiting 45 minutes and being assured that the driver was on their way we finally decided it would be best to try and find other accommodation of on our own in a location we needed to be at if the driver still hadn't made it after 45 minutes and we were still unable to get any more information on this supposed establishment they would be taking us too. We ended up paying 3 times as much for our last minute arrangements since it was during the lantern festival and prices were much higher by then. Also, be advised that all the different third party reservation companies that we each used gave us no problem with refunding our money since the hotel did not honor our reservations EXCEPT Agoda which considered my son to be a no show (even though we were all there for over 2 hours including my son) and because the establishment offered alternative accommodations which were at least 45 minutes away and would provide no information on the place they would put us up in. Agoda refused to refund the cost for his room but Expedia and hotels.com both refunded the others and myself the cost for our reservation due to the hotel having no rooms available. I don't know what kind of scam this hotel is trying to run but there were 4 other people there when we arrived who were also told the same thing and offered to rooms at their alternative location.

BE WARNED DO NOT STAY HERE!

When we landed and arrived at this hotel at 10pm, there was nobody at the front desk. I rang the number the hotel provided on the booking website, it was an invalid number. Then it took us 30min+ to ring around the booking website help line and find other ways to get in contact with someone of the hotel. 
I would have walked out, but I have already booked for 4 days, and it was almost 11pm, we have nowhere else to go. 

When we finally got someone here, they can't find our booking at all, and tried to charge us 3 times higher than what I have booked. The staff (or Owner) was extremely unfriendly/inpatient and very hard to talk to, we were almost arguing prices - never imagined we have to argue prices in a hotel. 

I have decided to change to another hotel first thing the next morning - such a relief that our 4-day booking was not there, but we had to stay here for 1 night as it was almost midnight. 

The room was very poorly ventilated and had such bad smell, there were no toiletries, towels looked unclean, the bedding didn't look/feel like being washed since last guests - we all know what a freshly washed linen feels like. We slept with our cloths on, still the smell of the room gave me headache.

This hotel is absolutely the worst I have ever come across, in every single aspect. I would suggest everyone to keep away from it.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in

Staying there was complete unsatisfactory. To be more precise it was the worst hotel in our 1-month trip to Thailand. While online booking we were driven by unusual and cosy interior decoration and hotel's location.
Once arrived we faced with the whole lot of unpleasant developments starting with problems on finding our booking in hotel's system. Secondly owner didn't know how to deal with the credit card terminal and even tried to charge 6 (!) times more than it cost. Obviously he didn't speak single English word.
Then other problems occured when we entered the room. Yes, it looks nice. But photos doesn't reflect smell of this dark damp suite. Humidity explained easily - aircon сondensated water dropped on carpet and because this room has tiny window it's impossible to ventilate. 
Later we found black hairs under blanket and asked to change bedclothes - no reaction.I had to come to lobby twice to remind staff to do their job.
And after all owner didn't say hello he unfriendly turn his face away.
I would never recommend this hotel (rated as 3-star) to anybody but hostile.

Overpriced, overrated

I searched around online for a few places close to the old town, among the shortlisted few, this is the most expensive one - $1000 per night. The photos looked incredible on the web, and I was willing to pay a bit extra to enjoy my holiday, so I chose this one over the others.

However, the minute I walked in, I was so shocked and did not want to stay there at all - there is literally NO lobby, only a couch and some very messy tables; it was clearly a young couple running the business, the guy wears tattoos and the woman was wearing a robe and literally putting on facial mask in front of us; there was an older lady too, feeding a crying baby; a dog was running all over the place, unattached, and peeing in the middle of the lobby.

I pull out their advertisement photos and asked to cancel my booking done by misleading information and false advertising. They refused immediately. So I called the customer service of booking.com, booking.com put me on hold while communicating with them on another line. I guess they were asked to provide real photos by booking.com, I heard them saying they did not have any photos and insisted on no cancellation. I have already paid $7000 room fee when booking the room.

It was 9pm in the evening and we just got off the long flight. Their attitude was: we are gonna keep your money anyway, what can you do about it?

I walked out anyway as I did not want to ruin my holiday with my newly wedded husband.

My honest advice, paying $1000 per night, you have a lot of other choices. Just don't stay here.
