I've got to admit, I've been putting off this review for a long time and I just figured out why--this place is so good I don't want to share it with anyone. It is now my "go-to" lodging when I visit Chiang Mai. It's quiet, in a soi (small street) off the main road but is convenient to ThaPae Gate, Loi Kroh Road, and within walking distance to the night bazaar. It's clean. Much cleaner than many hotels in Asia with 5 star ratings. The rooms and furnishings will take you back in time, reminiscent of the truly old guest houses in Bangkok and other parts of Asia. The staff is first-class and they will do everything to make your stay an enjoyable experience. It's very affordable. Most nights the rooms are from $30 to $35 USD. The only downsides are: There is no elevator but it's only a three-story guest house so that's not a big deal. There is a 2000 baht deposit which needs to be paid upfront but will be gladly refunded upon check out. They have stocked refrigerator so I guess I understand the need for a deposit.
