I came to stay in Chaing Mai for a week, with plans to move around in order to see all the sites, markets and places of interest.
I booked the Hit Hostel (now Virgo Hostel) for one night in a mixed dormitory.
It was such a great spot, clean, nice washroom, great room and beds, super comfy, light and power source by head board! I ended up staying here for three nights, great location not far from Thae Pae  gate. Has a fantastic café/restaurant on the ground floor, amazing food! Overall slightly more pricey than places near by, but I think the extra sheckles are well worth it!
Good wifi throughout entire building.
Stay you won't be disappointed!
Everything is close by walking distance!
Chaing Mai is a beautiful and fascinating place.


Great place ...stayed longer

The staff was very nice, the room was very clean and the nights were safe at the door. we ordered them a double room and as they did not have us, they gave us two rooms, one for me and one for me. when we told them that we wanted to sleep together, they told us that as an exception they gave us the same room and that it would be for us alone. the bathrooms are shared but they are clean and the shower is wide. it is near the door of the wall and near the nigth bazaar. we recommend it, although more to go with a group of friends than as a couple.

Good treatment and cleanliness.

We were staying next door at The Living Place 1 and came here for breakfast almost every day, as well as some lunches and dinners. It was just great. They do Western and Thai food both. The Western food hits the spot sometimes when you just want bacon and eggs, and the Thai food is just great. I enjoyed every dish except two: I don't recommend the smoked salmon, and one beef rice dish was tasty but too much heat to handle for me (but that's my fault). When they saw me struggling the chef decided to knock together a special soup as a heat antidote for me. It didn't actually work but it was really sweet and encapsulated the whole experience. 5 stars.

Amazing cafe (didn't stay at the hostel)

Awesome hostel! The place is next door to the living place 1, and I stayed in both. Much preferred HIT. It was 50baht more expensive but it was more modern. The rooms were spotless, huge lockers and the beds were quality ( mattress is proper, and each bed has a light and socket which is handy) . The guys that run it are very easy going and are great at organising any things you want to do. Biggest gem of the hostel is the food....it's up there with the best food I've had in all of Thailand!!! Great location in the city too...most things are within walking distance.

Excellent hostel

This review is for the resturant only. I've eaten here twice and the food was really good both times. Great presentation on wood cutting board and you can smell the garlic which they're cooking. Salad options, pasta, fresh breads and American and Australian style breakfast options. Thai food is available too which is more reasonbly priced. But when I'm in the mood for some delicious western food I come here and know I won't be disappointed. 

Really good food, especially breakfast

I stayed in this hostel for 4 nights and it's a pleasant stay. It has been opened for about 5months now and the location is good, 5mins walking to ThaPae gate. It is in Tha Pae Soi2 road, next to Krungsri Ayutthaya Bank and opposite to Wat Buppharam. The Latest checkin time is 10pm. but there will be security guard stand by all night long so contact them before if you will arrive later than 10pm. The first floor of the hostel is a small Bistro. I had breakfast everyday and it's really tasty! Many types of bread to choose from and not expensive at all compared to quality and quantity. I got to stay in the Female dorm, there's a locker in the room and private bathroom in the Female dorm. (2showers per 9beds) They provide free towels, wifi, no water and no elevator. one tip; Near the hostel you can find good Thai massage at Mahawan Temple. I paid 140Thb for 1 hour, the massage place is inside the temple without aircon but good breeze(from 10am-8pm) 
...I had a good stay here
