There are not a lot of hotels in Khust. However once you've seen the town centre, you will know why. The Karpaty Hotel is a modern building located virtually opposite the rail and bus stations, and around 15 - 20 minutes walk from the town centre. it is also conveniently close to a bathroom showroom, which is often good to know. On arrival at the hotel most travellers will understandably head straight for the rather glitzy reception area. Here you will be met by a cleaning lady who will send you to the 'real' reception, a small office in another wing of the building. The reception here is staffed 24 hours a day, although it is the same reception at every hour as she has a double bed in the office and at the time of visiting (around 5 pm) she was already in bed watching television. She was still in bed at 8 pm, 10 pm, and at 8.30 the following morning - but all the same, service was polite, attentive, and accompanied with a smile. The public areas of the hotel are roomy, and so are the rooms. It may, however, be worth checking if the bed has been made before you accept the room, especially in the off-season when you are likely to be one of the only guests. Both the bedroom and the bathroom were scrupulously clean, and the wifi conection worked reasonably well and without requiring the user to lie on the floor - most of the time. In the morning I was unable to sample the breakfast, however it seemed unlikely to be a 'full English', but then you never know... I would certainly stay here again, although I may bring a small table lamp next time.
