Spacy, comfortable, well-equipped, and nicely decorated rooms.  Three large and functional shared bathrooms, making it unlikely that you have to wait for someone else.  Large and well-equipped shared kitchen.  A second WiFi access point has recently been installed, and the WiFi quality is now very good, suitable for doing serious work over the Internet.  The owner, Gary, lives in the house himself and is very friendly and helpful (but please respect the check in and check out hours, he can't work all day round).  Besides, he is an avid bicyclist and may have tips for you in that respect, too.

In short, this is clearly above hostel quality and only slightly below hotel quality (due to the shared bathrooms and limited opening hours).  It is much more comfortable, much nicer, and much less impersonal than the average countryside motel - and yet cheaper, and besides, you won't find a motel so close to downtown Toronto anyway.

Definitely recommended, except for people who cannot climb stairs, and except for people who expect full hotel service.

Excellent value for a low price.

Great place to stay.  We had a long wait to get through immigration and were panicking about the late check in time.  I contacted Gary and he was very helpful and even though we're were arriving after the latest check in we were able to get in.  The room was on the first floor up a flight of stairs so please be aware of that.  I am sure Gary would help if you needed assistance.  Our room was a nice size and the bed was very comfortable.  We had a chair, TV and desk with the bathroom down the hallway.  One really good thing was that there was a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet plus a separate toilet with a sink which was quite large.  Everything was spotless including the kitchen. Gary has brochures and magazines downstairs in a small sitting area where the office is.  DuPont metro station is a few minutes walk away and there are a couple of cafes close to it.  The Havinn has parking in the rear which is good for those who want to leave a car and take public transport to explore.  We totally enjoyed our stay here and would recommend as a good value place to stay.
TIP:  for those who are flying out of Toronto, have the time and want to save a wee bit of money - take the metro from DuPont to Lawrence West.  Go through the exit to the buses and catch the 52A to Pearson Airport.  It's about 10 minutes on the train and then it takes 45 minutes on the bus.  It was CAN$6.50 for the two of us and we were dropped at the terminal door.

Good Value, Comfortable Stay

Stayed two nights here. The rooms and furniture are older but comfortable. AC in the room was welcomed. Room and shared bathrooms were spotless!
Parking right behind at the house for an extra $7 a night (great value in TO). 

Great Stay

So room was nice. The kitchen access is there. The location is like 3-4 km from downtown. The owner is a nice guy I had some wifi issues sometimes and unlike hotels they don't make your room daily (it's a guest house). But still overall it's fine.

Decent.

We made a reservation in Havinn Guest House by email and got a confirmation. It was supposed to be our second time in this place. However, when we tried to check-in, the owner said he had already gave the room to someone else. We showed him a confirmation email, but he just explained that someone had walked in explaining that they do have an reservation as well. So, this guy gave them our room without asking even their names, reservation, ID`s, nothing. It was the last room. We got there from Europe, tired, and ended up paying 300 dollars the first night In Toronto. And this guy did not even say SORRY! 
IF you make a reservation on this place it means NOTHING. The first to walk in got the rooms, with or without the reservations.
